NEVERMORE LAMP
Medium: Mixed/repurposed mannequin
Size: 40" tall with slightly adjustable stand, 21" wide x 14" deep
This lamp creation was inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's poem, "The Raven" and is made from a mosaic of 1" squares of my old canvases that "dress" the repurposed female mannequin bust. I embellished the form with old sheet music, a metal sign cut into strips and metal stamped with words to create a necklace, added handpainted designs and small found objects. The bust was retrofitted with a new dimmable light fixture on a 6' cord. There are two transparent butterflies that seemingly flutter around the light (bulb included).
This is a one-of-a-kind functional art creation by me, the 5th mannequin lamp I have enjoyed creating.
